Helped build a chicken coop for a job fair where kids used power tools to rebuild our 'kit'.
The team had bought plans with cool features: small access door for chicken ramp, nesting area with hinged top, windows, etc. But the build details were pretty off: poor framing technique, materials, door threshold preventing floor cleanup, etc. And the dimensions were not optimized for 4x8' sheets, leading to unnecessary waste and cost.
So some on-the-fly changes were made, which I captured in Rhino, going by memory. The floor is about 5.5 x 5.5', height at the side walls is ~5'. Framing is all 2x4s. The windows are just plexiglass held with backing sticks, and caulked all around.
My model is very crude, with a handful of issues (siding split leftovers,
siding skewed vs floor, non closed volumes, etc). Doing a proper job, as a Rhino noob, would probably take another couple of days.
Could still use additional simplification though to make it a quicker and cheaper build (2x3s, 6x6 footprint, studs on siding seams, simpler wall vent, etc), and to improve cleanliness and maintenance (remove door threshold for sweeping, flashing details for water routing...).
Had never used Rhino, interesting exercise. Free for 90 days, requires just an email address.
